The Concert for Sandy Relief was a benefit show in response to the devastating Hurricane Sandy which struck the coast of New York and New Jersey in The United States. It featured probably the biggest collection of 'old' superstars in one event: Paul McCartney, The Who, Roger Waters, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel. They were supported by the younger generation: Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam (he joined Roger Waters for 'Comfortably Numb'), Chris Martin from Coldplay, Michael Stipe from R.E.M., Bon Jovi and others. Despite the very expensive tickets, the show was sold-out. It lasted almost 6 hours and the artists enjoyed the most enthusiastic support from the audience. This was one the most memorable shows of the decade, if not of all times. It won Grammy award for the best rock song 'Cut Me Some Slack' performed by the 'Nirvana Reunion' with Paul McCartney on vocals.

The tour was entitled 'An Evening with The Smashing Pumpkins' and the line-up was: Billy Corgan (lead vocals, guitar), James Iha (guitar), D'arcy Wretzky (bass guitar), Kenny Aronoff (drums), Steven Hodges (percussion) and David Bowie's pianist Mike Garson playing great piano imrovs which had become the most special moments of the tour. Show at Atlanta was packed with altered and rearranged songs and improvs, and considered as one of the most special and amazing Smashing Pumpkins live performances.

The band was supported by strings quartet for acoustic songs and Ben Harper with his lap-steel guitar for Red Mosquito. Ed's voice was at it's lowest point that year and sounds worn, but this video seems to be the only really high quality footage since Immagine In Cornice.
