Fallout 4 Ghoul Replacer
Bethesda introduced the Creation Club, a program that allows mod creators to get paid for their work, in the latest Fallout 4 update for PC today.
Only 12 pieces are available to download, including two weapons, a modern furniture pack, and various paint jobs for gear. There’s even a “Power Horse Armor,” which is a nod to the cosmetic horse armor DLC introduced in the Xbox 360 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Check out the rest of the content here.
The Creation Club content must be approved by Bethesda itself, since it must be compatible with the main game, official add-ons, and achievements. The publisher is giving 100 credits to all players to spend, while more can be bought with real money through each platform’s digital storefront. Bethesda also said that mod support for Fallout 4 will remain free.
The Creation Club was the result to the response of Valve allowing paid mods in the Steam Workshop for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim back in 2015. The system was pulled down after a few days due to concerns over a modder’s cut of sales, modders stealing others’ work, and players criticizing the idea of paying for mods when Skyrim had supported mods for free since launch.
The update also adds a “Message of the Day” notification, ESL file, and bug fixes for turning mods on and off. Players need to opt into the Steam Beta to download the update.
The Creation Club is currently in beta on PC, and will launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions tomorrow. The program is also coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition sometime in September.
