We tried to install the VAS 5054A ODIS in Dell D630 laptop, the installation is smooth, and you need the path to finish the installation, then the software able to work. Here i list the installation steps below:
Double click to run the setup exe file
Choose the language you want to install and press ok
setting as default path, if you click next
If you want to define other languages, you can choose here, we click next
Choose the hardware as VAS 5054A
here you choose the VAS 5054A ODIS path location
Click next
Click next
Find the patch folder of VAS 5054A ODIS, then open it
Paste into the install patch and replace the old file to crack
Now double click the ODIS icon on the desktop
Choose Select the local directory
Click right arrow
Finish installation now you are able to use the software!

ODIS or VCDS or VCP: which best?
ODIS is OEM, so it fully supports every VAG model, and it’s best for flashing
but it’s slow and you need online connection for being able to do a lot of things
Vas 6154 head should run faster with ODIS than 5054A
VCDS is super fast, best to read DTC’s and do basic stuff (diagnosis) and some simple coding
but it doesn’t work well with new MQB platform.
VCP is little bit a mix of those, best for parametring and quick eeprom read and DTC fast read
every feature (coding & programming) is done offline
Doesn’t need engineer codes for coding or programming
work very well with MQB
